Acoustic Distinctions has an immediate opening for an experienced AV Systems consultant. The position can be based in our office in Midtown NYC or Stamford, CT.
The successful candidate will have expert skills, knowledge and experience and be able to program, plan, design, document and specify AV and Audio systems for a wide variety of projects, as well as perform construction phase, commissioning and project management services related to such systems. Space types include meeting, conference training, presentation, screening rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, and worship spaces.
The position involves regular interaction with architects, engineers, and other members of the design team, as well as owners, operators, contractors, and prospective clients. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas through writing, drawing, and speaking are required.
Design and production experience using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD from project setup through design and documentation is required.

Position Requirements:
Education
Professional degree in a relevant technology or equivalent professional experience. Special consideration given for InfoComm CTS certificants, Syn-Aud-Con graduates, or LEED Accreditation.
Experience
Minimum of five years’ experience in audio, video, audio visual, and integrated control systems for performance, educational, entertainment, religious, and/or corporate facilities.
Knowledge of all project phases, including: planning, design, documentation, construction administration, project management, and operation.
Special consideration given for additional experience in business development, acoustics, theatrical systems, data networking, live entertainment, broadcast facilities, and/or hands-on installation.
Proficiencies
Able to communicate ideas through writing and drawing, as well as at client meetings and presentations
Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and willing to participate in team mentoring
Experience with: computer operating systems and software, vector drawing programs, loudspeaker array design programs, DSP programming, control system programming, and electroacoustic modeling and measurement tools.
Duties
Position involves working with architectural teams and end-user clients providing consultative design and engineering services, site assessments, requirements analysis, and preparing reports. You will be expected to:
Promote ADI and identify new project opportunities
Assist proposal preparation and presentation
Participate in electronic and acoustical testing
Attend programming meetings with clients and user groups
Conceptualize, describe, and determine probable costs for technical systems
Identify building infrastructure needed to support systems design
Resolve issues concerning desires vs. budget
Develop and document designs
Create bid packages and evaluate responses
Review contractor/integrator submittals
Inspect work in progress
Commission technical systems
Participate in training end users
